PREMIUM RUSH
PRODUCING GREEN RESULTS
During its 97 day shoot in New York City, the action film Premium Rush exemplified Sony Pictures sustainable production efforts. In addition to double-sided printing, ordering biodegradable cleaning supplies and recycling printer toner cartridges, batteries and other e-waste, Premium Rush composted over 550 gallons of organic waste that was used by the Lower East Side Ecology Center’s community gardens.
The production aimed to reuse everything. Film, camera and electric expendables were donated to the Ghetto Film School; art supplies went to Material for the Arts; construction supplies and raw materials were donated to Build It Green; set dressing pieces were sent to the Angel Street Thrift Shop; leftover fabric and towel scraps were sewn into dog beds and donated to St. Bernard Parish Animal Services; and miscellaneous office supplies went to a New York City public school.
