SPNI LAUNCHES SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION PROGRAM
Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) launched sustainability guidelines for content production in an industry-first initiative in India, with a commitment to lead the way by adopting green practices.
To begin with, SPNI implemented these guidelines on three of its pilot shows in fiction & non-fiction category.
The measures incorporated cover a wide range of operations and include actionable initiatives such as a complete ban on single-use plastic, thermocol for set design and flex for printing. A mandatory waste segregation & recycling policy has been implemented. The sets are using eco-fonts for printing and encouraging minimal usage of single-use products like paper cups, tissues etc. There has been a dedicated eco-trooper on set responsible for audit, carbon footprint accounting and various environmental community-driven initiatives. Carbon accounting across key impact areas like electricity, fuel consumption associated with generators, travel, hotels & housing and daily waste generation is being noted for.
