2025 SUSTAINABILITY PRIZE (2025)
FILM & PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD
A global year-round engagement program set up to mobilize and inspire creators to Act Now through photography and film.
[Full Description]: Creators for the Planet is a global year-round engagement program set up by Sony Pictures and the United Nations Foundation, developed in collaboration with Creo. Creators for the Planet aims to mobilize and inspire people to Act Now through photography and film.
As part of Creators for the Planet, Sony and Creo developed the Sustainability Prize, a program that rewards photographers and filmmakers passionate about communicating key themes linked to the Sustainable Development Goals, including environment, accessibility, diversity, equity and inclusion.
On October 28, 2025 Sony Pictures celebrated the 2025 Sustainability Prize winners, Kasia Strek and Kirsten Slemint, from the Sony World Photography and Sony Future Filmmaker Awards at the Creators for the Planet Showcase at Alamo Drafthouse's Lower Manhattan theater in New York, co-hosted with the UN Foundation and CREO. Their work highlights how creativity can drive positive change for our planet, earning each $5,000 and Sony Digital Imaging gear.
The event brought together leaders from the sustainability community. It featured a Q&A with Martina Donlon, Chief of Climate and Sustainable Development Communications at the United Nations, and John Rego, SVP and Chief Environmental Sustainability Officer at Sony Pictures. Kasia Strek’s photography series Repairing the Earth was displayed in the event space and Kirsten Slemint’s award-winning film Burnt Country was screened alongside Justice Brothers by Kieran Hodges and Eduardo Vento, and Wildman of the Greater Toronto Area by Solmund MacPherson.
